From Source to Sea is the result of over five years researching and writing as I traveled the whole length of the River Dordogne with a friend. This fascinating journey covers most aspects of the river's history, from early man through the Romans, Cathars, Templars, the Hundred Years War, the castles, religious institutions, churches, towns and what is in, on, by and over the river. Illustrations in pen and ink and sketch maps by me, enliven the text which never dwells too long on any one subject but skips briskly to the next, occasionally quoting some experiences of others who have written about the Dordogne's numerous charms.
