We expect of science to give us tools to improve our lives, but we are also nervous about the overreach of experts into domains of personal values. How do we square this circle? Dr Anna Alexandrova will report on the recent attempts to give a scientific basis for wellbeing and happiness and how to make this science more participatory and less technocratic.

Dr Anna Alexandrova (Fellow of King's)

Anna Alexandrova is a Reader in Philosophy of Science and a fellow of King's College. She writes on how scientists navigate morally charged and complex phenomena, such as wellbeing and mental health, and the role of formal models and indicators in their scholarly and public work.
