Professor Joel Robbins

Professor Joel Robbins is the Sigrid Rausing Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. He is also the Deputy Head of Division and REF Coordinator for the Division of Social Anthropology.

His primary fieldwork has been in Papua New Guinea among a remote language group who converted to charismatic Christianity in the late 1970s. His research interests include the anthropology of Christianity, religious education, values, ethics, cultural change, material and verbal exchange, structuralism and semiotics.
