Professor Charles Higham is an Archaeological Research Professor at the the University of Otago, New Zealand. He specialises in the Archaeology of South East Asia and among his noted contributions is his work (including several documentaries) about the Angkor civilization in Cambodia. Professor Higham is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, an Honorary Fellow of St. Catharine's College Cambridge, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.

In 2012, he was awarded the Grahame Clark medal of distinguished research in archaeology by the British Academy. His publications include several books about the culture and archaeology of South East Asia as well as The Civilization of Angkor published by the University of California Press.
