As some of you may know, the day out to The Henley Literary Festival has been one of our most popular events, and suddenly it is upon us again. 

The Festival has become one of the top 5 Literary Festivals in the country and attracts many notable authors. The talks last exactly an hour, remarkably accurately, and there are a number of venues, all close to the town centre. Lunch together is an essential part of the fun, and I am happy to offer this again at my house in Henley (within walking distance of the various venues).

This year our Day Out is on a Saturday rather than mid-week, which we do realise may not be as convenient.  One of the reasons is that one of our very own members, Christina Hardyment, has a slot with two other local authors at 6pm and I hope that some of us will be able to support her – and there are also a number of other excellent talks that day.  Perhaps some of you will opt for morning talks followed by lunch and others of you will opt for lunch followed by afternoon talks including Christina’s – and maybe even a morning talk, lunch and an afternoon talk!  Lunch will be flexible as a result, between 12.15 and 2.45pm, and numbers will have to be limited to about 24, although I have accommodated quite a few more than that in past years and I may be able to increase it depending on demand!!

The organisers are delighted to welcome us each year - it pleases them enormously that our Society brings a group every year - and they have reserved a number of places for us at the talks shown on the attached summary.  There are also other talks you may prefer or would like in addition, and it is worth putting your names down for talks that say they are sold out as things tend to change.  For fuller details of the topics and authors, and the additional talks not listed on the attached, see the website  https://www.henleyliteraryfestival.co.uk/programme/.
