In Cambridge, the first term of the academic year has ended.

While the students have returned to their families, choristers have stayed to sing in Christmas services and celebrations, and busy shoppers traverse the cobblestones beneath the sparkle of festive lights. As the year — and the decade — closes, we reflect on recent achievements, alongside our dreams and ambitions.

The New Year will bring with it the return of excited students, filling the laboratories and lecture halls, where intent concentration alternates with dynamic discussion. As Cambridge develops and thrives, new ideas and discoveries will bring hope while changing the course of the future.

Whichever festival you celebrate, we wish you a safe and joyful holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah… And to all, a very happy New Year.
