CUEA Elects Brian Phillipson as President

Mr Phillipson matriculated in 1971, and subsequently had a distinguished career in Aerospace and Defence, mainly with BAE Systems. He was particularly heavily involved with design, manufacture, development and certification of new designs, and major modifications, in the sectors of civil and military aircraft, naval ships and submarines. For several years he worked in Munich, Germany, as the CEO then COO of the Eurofighter company, leading the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft programme. More recently he has worked in Cambridge as the Engineering Director of Marshall Aerospace and is now a freelance consultant. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, and has received both the NE Rowe Award and the Society Silver Medal from the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is married with four adult children.

The Cambridge University Engineers' Association works alongside the Cambridge University Engineering Society and the Engineering Department to provide a link between students, alumni and the Department, maintaining connections between those involved with the Department and the engineering profession as a whole.
