Alumni and guests are invited to join the Wellington Cambridge Society for an event with Professor Gerry GIlmore.

Gerry is originally from New Zealand, where he studied Physics and Maths. He worked at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh as a Senior Research Fellow, before moving to Cambridge in 1984. As Professor of Experimental Philosophy at the Institute of Astronomy, he leads the effort to understand the structure and origin of our galaxy. He has also been part of the Gaia project – a European Space Agency cornerstone project aimed at understanding how the Milky Way was formed, and how it evolved into what it is today.

You can see a video of Gerry talking about the project here.
