The Netherlands - Asparagus Tour and Tasting Lunch
The Netherlands - Asparagus Tour and Tasting Lunch
Alumni and guests are invited to join the Oxford and Cambridge Society of The Netherlands for an asparagus tour and tasting lunch.
Do you enjoy asparagus? Have you ever wondered how they are grown or how, while still under the earth, they can be cut without damaging the delicate tops? What’s the difference between white and green asparagus?
We will see an information film about asparagus growing and then be shown around the asparagus processing area and the asparagus field. We will be able to try cutting our own asparagus, and then we will be treated to an asparagus tasting lunch. This is a three-course menu consisting of asparagus soup, followed by asparagus with ham, egg and butter sauce. There are ice cream & strawberries for dessert, followed by coffee or tea.
