Oxford University Society Madrid has kindly passed on an invite to members of the Cambridge Alumni Madrid Group to join them for a book presentation and lunch at Centro Riojano de Madrid in the Spanish capital.

Tom Burns Marañón O.B.E., Lincoln College Oxford, financial journalist and political commentator will talk about his new book: “Entre el ruído y la furia: el fracaso del bipartidismo en España”.

Tom's book shows how the two-party system for a parliamentary monarchy created by Spain’s Constitution of 1978, has now hit the rocks.  He explains why this happened, examining the abdication of King Juan Carlos, the future of the monarchy in Spain, the rise of nationalism and populist movements and the constitutional crisis caused by Catalan secessionism, and much else.
