Cumbria - Talk and Dinner
This event is in the past.
Join members of the Cambridge Society (Cumbria) to hear from lively speaker and fellow group member, Roger Heise on his talk entitled 'Steam and Water'.
Roger is a graduate of engineering from Clare College. After graduating he worked with the Metropolitan Police on trying to rationalise road traffic in London and then moved into the computer/communications world. He has worked in France, Luxembourg and Germany, where he was in business on his own account and has also worked with major companies. His work in the computer/ communications industry has taken him round the world.
His first steam launch was called Vesuvius and apart from steaming sedately along lakes and the Thames at Henley during the regatta, provided an excellent cup of tea! His latest boat is one he has largely designed himself, and being an engineer he has had his fingers in various bits of the working parts.
Upon retirement he returned to a redesigned home in Silverdale, but maintains active contact with various companies in the business world.
