The 83rd San Francisco Boat Race dinner celebrates the 164th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. Taking the form of a College Feast at an Oxbridge College, it is the one occasion each year when the alumni of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge convene for a large-scale event in northern California. Alumni, students, academic visitors and former employees of either university are invited to attend, along with their spouses, partners and guests. The evening is held in the elegant ambience of the University Club atop Nob Hill in the heart of San Francisco.

Carey Perloff, Artistic Director of American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco, will be the distinguished guest speaker. Perloff's tenure at ACT has been marked by the creation of a new core company of actors; revitalization of the acclaimed ACT Master of Fine Arts Program; receipt of the 1996 Jujamcyn Theaters Award, honoring ACT's efforts to develop creative talent for the theater; a series of international collaborations, including The Virtual Stage and Electric Company Theatre's multi-media adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit, Robert Wilson and Tom Waits' The Black Rider, Morris Panych and Wendy Gorling's The Overcoat, and Kneehigh Theatre's Brief Encounter; and the American premieres of plays by Tom Stoppard and Harold Pinter. After 25 years as Artistic Director, Perloff will retire after ACT's current season to pursue her freelance and writing career. A recipient of France’s Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the National Corporate Theatre Fund's 2007 Artistic Achievement Award, Perloff received a BA Phi Beta Kappa in classics and comparative literature from Stanford University and was a Fulbright Fellow at Oxford University. Perloff is the author of Beautiful Chaos: A Life in the Theater (City Lights, March 2015).

Cocktails are at 5.30pm and dinner will be served at 7.15pm. The Boat Race video will be played before dinner at 6.15pm and again after dinner.
