Alumni and guests are invited to join the Dordogne Cambridge Group for their upcoming Shakespeare evening.

As most of you know by now, this London-based theatre troupe is going from strength to strength, continuing to win awards and critical acclaim both in England and abroad. Having last year presented a seriously gripping production of Richard III, this year for their annual French tour they are changing the mood completely with Much Ado About Nothing,  set in 1945, when English troops on their way home stop off in a small French village. Like their outstandingly successful Henry V of two years ago, this production has a mixed cast of both French and English actors, with live music including songs of the period, and should be an absolutely delightful evening.

As many people have to drive some distance, and it isn't easy to get a meal in France at 7pm, we have again this year organised a light supper at the venue. This year it is a new restaurant (new to us, that is), the Pourquoi Pas. It is right beside La Halle (on the opposite side from where we were last year) so it will take us literally 60 seconds to get to our seats. The cost will be €18 p.p. for a two-course meal: a plat of either charcuterie or cheese, with salad and bread, followed by your choice of artisan ice cream (there are a variety of flavours available) or gateau aux noix au chocolate, a glass of wine and coffee.

Practical arrangements are as follows. Please organise your own tickets for the performance on the website. The front two rows have reserved seats (the front row is sold out already); the back two rows are free seating, and as soon as you arrive and get your ticket you can put down cushions or jackets to 'reserve' your places. Any tickets left on the night will be sold at the door (so to speak),  but it is far safer to buy them on line. Feel free to bring cushions if you find seats get hard, and you may wish to bring a jacket as it can get chilly once the sun goes in.

This is a really perfect way to spend a summer's evening, and is a lovely outing if you have family or friends staying, so do bring guests if you would like to.
