Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of Auckland in welcoming, the 2018 Student Travel Award winner to New Zealand.

One of the 2018 Student Travel Award winners is visiting us in New Zealand. The award, which is sponsored by Development and Alumni Relations, is providing two students with funding to visit Alumni Groups worldwide throughout the months of August and September. Each student will visit five or six Groups, where they meet members, participate in group activities and discover what the Groups have to offer current students. While travelling they will write blogs and use social media to promote their findings to other students. And on return, write a report with their findings and suggestions for further developing the guidelines for all Alumni Groups on how to engage students.

Alice White will be in Auckland from 30th August to 10th September and we are organising an event to host her on Tuesday 4th September, where she will do a short talk then meet as many of you as possible.

Here is an introduction from Alice:

"I am a PhD student in the Dept. of Clinical Neuroscience and I research decision-making in people who have Huntington's Disease. I'm also a rower and competed in the Boat Race against Oxford in 2017 and 2018. I learned to row a decade ago in NZ! I'll give a short talk about the race and how we prepared for it at a group event in September. Feel free to get in touch with me (ajw283@cam.ac.uk)- I would love to meet as many alumni as possible. If there are any rowers or neuroscientists in the group please get in touch! I'm keen to go for a row and see what neuroscience-esque work is happening in Auckland"
