The alumni magazine, CAM, is produced three times a year. To get your copy by post or email, please update your details.

We also send out a monthly e-newsletter to all alumni for whom we have email addresses. If you don't already receive it and would like to, please update your details.

You can also keep in touch with the University community via FacebookTwitterLinkedIn, Instagram and Sina Weibo.

Your College may also send out alumni communications - get in touch with your College's development and alumni relations office to find out more.

What benefits do alumni receive?

Alumni are entitled to a wide range of benefits including a CAMCard which entitles you to membership of the University Centre, free entrance to College grounds (when open to visitors) and discounts from Cambridge University Press, Heffers, local hotels and restaurants, and more. Alumni can also sign up for Cantab.net, the University's email for life service.

Contact your College in the first instance to see if they have any availability (normally only out of term time) or Conference Cambridge to check availability at other Colleges.

How do I find alumni near me or who share the same interest?

Cambridge has a network of Alumni Groups around the world. You can find your nearest Group, or find out if there's one for the topic you're interested in, by using our online search.

If there isn't a Group but you would like to start one, please see the 'For alumni groups' section below.

All alumni are able to join the University's official LinkedIn group. Your College and Alumni Groups may also have ways to engage on social media.

How can the alumni relations team help me publicise my group event?

We publicise events run by officially recognised alumni groups on our website. If you would like us to add your event to our website or require further information, please email networks@alumni.cam.ac.uk. We also undertake recruitment emails for groups - please get in touch if you would like to find out more about this.

We regret that it is not possible for us to advertise group events in CAM or the monthly alumni e-newsletter due to space constraints.

About past students

Who is an alumnus/alumna of the University?

An alumnus/alumna of the University is someone who has both matriculated within the University and studied within the University on an approved course.

How do I check whether someone has a Cambridge degree?

The University’s Student Registry verifies full time Cambridge degrees for official purposes such as employment. Requests for verification should be made in writing, giving as detailed information as possible for the individual and qualification(s) concerned and the reason for your enquiry, such as background check for employment.

Further information is available on the Student Registry’s webpage.

How do I advertise a job to Cambridge graduates?

Recruitment opportunities for students and graduates of the University are handled by the Careers Service, which is available to alumni throughout their lives.

Contact information and full list of the services available to recruiters can be found on the Careers Service website.

If you are an alumnus/na of the University, you may post your vacancy directly in our official Cambridge alumni LinkedIn group.

How do I trace an ancestor who may have been to Cambridge?

For enquiries before 1900 (including women) there is now an online database of Cambridge alumni, which is searchable in a number of ways.

For dates between 1900 and approximately 1940, please contact the University archivist. You may find the attached guide, kindly compiled by the archivist, helpful in locating the information you seek.

An alumnus/alumna I know has died, whom do I need to tell?

Please email us with the individual's details and we will update our records and notify the relevant College.

Please note that due to space restrictions we are not able to print obituaries in CAM. However Colleges' publications may do so - please enquire with the relevant College's development and alumni relations office directly.
