'Cambridge Unveiled' 19th Annual Alumni Weekend
Friday 25 - Sunday 27 September
Next weekend sees over 1400 alumni and guests, aged from 22 to 92 and from all 31
Colleges, returning to Cambridge for 102 tours, 13 social occasions, 37
lectures and 3 amazing days of the very best of Cambridge over the
800th anniversary year Alumni Weekend.
Follow the excitement of the 2009 Alumni Weekend during the build-up and throughout the three days on Twitter and on the Alumni website.

Alumni Monthly Drinks, Cambridge
Tuesday 13 October, 19:00 -

Come and meet other local alumni at the October alumni drinks, back
this month at our usual venue of B-Bar in Market Passage. There's no
need to book so just turn up on the night and please feel free to
invite other alumni you know to come along.

Tunnelling into the Future Thursday 29 October Professor
Robert Mair, Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, will give a public
lecture on the exciting developments in underground transport systems
throughout the world entitled 'Tunnelling into the Future' at the
Institution of Civil Engineers in London on Thursday 29 October,
6.30-8.30pm.
Tickets cost £20 each and the evening begins with a wine reception. Email the Alumni Relations Office for a reply form. |

From surviving to thriving in your career

In the current economic crisis, our first alumni event in Scotland will
help to provide you with some sage advice about how to weather these
times of change and unpredictability.
Join us at Edinburgh's iconic landmark, The Hub, for an informal yet
informative session focusing on careers, with Gordon Chesterman,
Director and Head of Careers Services, Polly Courtney (author and

Professor Sir David Williams (1930 - 2009)
The University is saddened to report the death on Sunday 6 September of
Professor Sir David Williams, who was a Life Fellow and Honorary Fellow
of Emmanuel College, President of Wolfson College from 1980 to 1992 and
Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1989 to 1996.

this autumn. With a programme packed with film screenings, talks
including 'The Philosophy of Wine', debates and performances such as

Faculty of History - Cambridge University over Eight Centuries
To place the University's momentous anniversary in perspective, the
Cambridge History Faculty is offering a series of eight lectures from
leading historians, one for each century. Each lecture will take a
significant date in the history of the University and use it as the
starting-point for an exploration of the University and of its role in
national and international events.

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology
The Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology (CEB) is
pleased to announce the launch of its first Alumni Speaker Series on Tuesday 27 October 2009, 5pm in Lecture Theatre 1, Shell Building, New Museums Site, Pembroke Street.
This event is free but places are limited so please register ASAP.

Drinks with the Vice-Chancellor in Vancouver
Cambridge
alumni living in British Columbia and Seattle are invited to join the
Vice Chancellor Professor Alison Richard and the Vancouver Oxford and
Cambridge Society for a drinks reception on Saturday 24 October
at the Vancouver Club. The event will be free of charge, but as there
are limited places please RSVP by Monday 5 October by emailing, faxing or posting the attached form. |

Evensong at Christchurch Cathedral Dublin
To mark the 800th anniversary of the University of Cambridge, Evensong will be held in Christchurch Cathedral Dublin at 3pm on Saturday 3 October. Academic dress or Cambridge blazers may be worn but are not essential.
