Welcome to the July e-bulletin, which brings you the latest news about alumni events and activities, and updates from across the University.

Alumni Weekend - Last chance to book!
Friday 24 – Sunday 26 September
Booking closes for this year's Alumni Weekend on Friday 6 August – don't forget that you can quickly and easily book online. There is plenty of space available for all of the lecture programmes on Saturday and a number of the smaller Friday and Sunday events still have good availability.


An Evening of Spectacular Views and Festive Drinks
Tuesday 7 December
It may be summer outside but don't forget we have an exclusive alumni event at Sir Paul Judge's spectacular London apartment in December. Enjoy drinks and canapés whilst networking in style.

Fenner's Cricket Club

Under 19 One Day International Series - England v Sri Lanka
Saturday 7 August
Fenner's Cricket Club are hosting the first game of the Under 19 One Day International Series between England and Sri Lanka. Tickets are available on the door for about £5 and there is also parking available at Fenner's at a small cost. For more information, please contact Fenner's directly on 01223 353552 (Pavilion). The Spectrum Ball - an evening with Jools Holland and friends
Thursday 30 September

Alumni and friends are invited to an evening of glamour and star performances at the Park Lane Hotel, London. This event will be held in aid of the National Autistic Society and the Autism Research Trust (supporters of the Cambridge University Autism Research Centre), and is hosted by NAS President, Jane Asher and ARC Patron, Jools Holland. CAM magazine

CAM wins international awards
We're delighted to announce that CAM has won two prestigious international awards.

The University's alumni magazine has been named 2010 Robert Sibley Magazine of the Year by CASE, becoming the first ever non-US-based publication in the award's 67-year history to win this prize. CAM also beat alumni publications from around the world to win a Gold Award in the category of College and University General Interest Magazines with Circulations over 75,000.

New-look Alumni Group webpages
Whether you are looking to make new friends, are visiting an area for business or pleasure and want to meet alumni there, or just want to make contact with alumni in a particular country, you can find a Group via our new-look pages on our website by either clicking on the interactive map or using the drop-down box on the right-hand side of the screen. You can also find out about forthcoming events or read a report on past events. It is your network, so do make use of it!


There are more than 370 Alumni Groups regularly holding events all around the world and we are delighted to report a new Group in Iraq, as well as the new Cambridge Motorcycle Club.

Scientists at Cambridge's Kavli Institute are studying how the Universe developed after the Big Bang by analysing light emitted up to 13.7 billion years ago.

Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) launches NEW Postgraduate Diploma in Training, Learning and Development

This is an innovative programme for those engaged in the delivery of training and learning or who are committed to moving into this field. It is a flexible, part-time programme, consisting of six courses, which can be taken over a period of 24 to 36 months.

CARO are delighted to announce that the new Cambridge Alumni Shop has launched and is now available on our website! The new range of products especially designed for alumni include a mug, featuring the University's motto, a leather travel set encompassing a passport holder, luggage tag and bookmark, a sports bag and other items.

Alumni Surveys

Thank you very much to all who took part in the online CAM readership survey, and also to those who emailed us with their thoughts and comments even if they were unable to complete the questionnaire. The survey is now closed and we look forward to sharing its findings with you later this autumn. As part of our ongoing survey activity we will shortly be inviting other alumni to participate in an online questionnaire to help us learn more about alumni attitudes, opinions and needs.
