Welcome to the April e-bulletin, which brings you the latest news about alumni events and activities, and updates from across the University.

Monday 26 July
Pre-performance lecture by author Daniel Rosenthal (Pembroke 1990), followed by performance of The Tempest, directed by Sam Mendes (Peterhouse 1984).


20th Annual Alumni Weekend
Friday 24 - Sunday 26 September

This year we are delighted that Dame Fiona Reynolds, (Newnham 1976), Director General of the National Trust will be our keynote speaker. Her lecture is entitled 'Nature in the 21st Century'.
The full programme of events and lectures will be advertised from late May onwards. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please sign up to register your interest.

Women's Word

Women's Word
11 - 20 June

Women's Word at Lucy Cavendish College welcomes audiences for lively debate, talks by leading female authors, and practical advice on creative writing. The festival will also feature major names in contemporary women's writing such as Joan Bakewell, Sophie Hannah, Sadie Jones and Ali Smith.

Hay Festival

Hay Festival
27 May - 6 June
For the second year running, the prestigious Guardian Hay Festival will host a series of talks by Cambridge academics. Last year, over 4,000 people came to talks by 14 academics. This year's speakers include Professors Simon Baron Cohen and Janet Todd. For more information please see www.hayfestival.com. All the talks are being recorded and will be available in due course.

Cambridge victorious over the Easter Weekend
Following Goldie's win in the reserve race, the Light Blues secured a one-and-a-half-length victory over Oxford in the 156th Boat Race, defying the pre-race odds.

Monday evening saw another impressive win for Cambridge, with Emmanuel College beating St John's College Oxford, in the final of University Challenge.

Research Horizons


The results from our February Alumni Poll, showed us that many of you would like to see more research and academic news in the e-bulletin. In collaboration with Research Horizons, each edition will now bring you a taster of research from across the University.
