Cambridge Society of Queensland
The CAMSOC of Queensland was in hibernation when Alison Ross (Hughes Hall 1979) and Ian Ross (Trinity Hall 1976) arrived in Brisbane late 2010. Realising how advantageous it is for all Cambridge Alumni to have a Cam Soc group in their city Alison decided to get the Queensland group up and running again. With the assistance of the CARO office she contacted Queensland alumni then organised a dinner in Oct 2011. Over 40 enthusiastic alumni came to the Brisbane Polo Club to enjoy a very successful Spring Feast.
Susannah Fullerton, President of the Jane Austen Society of Australia and a long time friend of Cambridge was the guest speaker and gave an engaging speech entitled " The Literary Bad Boys of Cambridge University." The speech was extremely entertaining covering the achievements and other antics of one literary figure from each of the last six centuries from John Milton to Rupert Brooke.
The event marked the start of a new era for CAMSOC Queensland. Interested alumni are encouraged to contact Alison at alisonrossis@gmail.com
