Drinks with the Vice-Chancellor in Vancouver
It was standing room only on Saturday 24 October 2009 at the Vancouver Oxford and Cambridge Club, which was filled with 161 alumni and guests from Vancouver and the surrounding areas, attending a prestigious Drinks Reception with the VC, Professor Alison Richard. Attendees included a 13 month old baby, a gentleman of over 90, the great-great granddaughter of the man who sent the challenge to Oxford for the first Boat Race, and a couple on their first date!
Over canapés and drinks, attendees were able to mingle with fellow alumni as well as listening to an excellent and amusing speech by the VC, resplendent in a scarlet dress, who later said how much she had enjoyed the event herself and how much goodwill towards Cambridge she had felt.
A big thank you of course must go to Tony Knox and Barb Stephens from the Vancouver Oxford and Cambridge Club for all their hard work, and to Cambridge in America who also helped greatly, as well as supplying pins, bags and name badges for one and all!
