The Cambridge Society of West Cheshire and North Wales
At the kind invitation of The Oxford University Society Cheshire and North-East Wales Branch, a party of fifty Oxonians and Cantabrigians and their guests enjoyed a cruise on the L’eau-T Cuisine sailing on the Shropshire Union Canal from the Mill Hotel, Chester, on Wednesday 23 September 2009.
An excellent meal with wine was served on board by the hotel staff and the boat travelled from its moorings at the hotel and called at the Chemistry Lock, where diners disembarked to stretch their legs, take the air and enjoy the lights of the City in the distance, before the return journey.
This was the first joint meeting to be held in Chester and members of both Universities were enthusiastic that more similar convivial events should be shared in the future.
