The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research provides a shared intellectual home for archaeologists at Cambridge and their collaborators into all aspects of the human past, across time and space.
The Institute facilitates research within the Department of Archaeology and supports the work of staff, postdoctoral researchers, and students. It is an interdisciplinary hub for archaeology in Collegiate Cambridge, supporting staff from a variety of departments, museums, and Colleges. As a postdoctoral research institute, the McDonald independently supports archaeological fieldwork and research and offers a programme of seminars, workshops, conferences, publications, and grants as well as providing laboratories for a wide range of research exploring the diversity of the human past. The McDonald also produces the Cambridge Archaeological Journal and publishes peer-reviewed monographs and thematic edited volumes.
