The Boat Races 2014
This event is in the past.
Globally renowned for its gruelling nature, historic rivalry and amateur status, a Boat Race is the place to show your Light Blue colours with pride. From 2015 the Women's Blue Boat will join the Men's on the tideway.
Update 26/03/14: The start times of the Men's Reserves race (Goldie v Isis) and the Blue Boats race have both been moved five minutes earlier - the reserves race will now start at 5.25pm and the Blue Boats will start their race at 5.55pm BST. For full details about the schedule change, please see theboatrace.org/men/news-article/153/race-start-time-changed-for-the-2014-bny-mellon-boat-race
Henley Boat Races
The Women's and Lightweights' Boat Races take place on Sunday 30 March 2014 at Henley-on-Thames - the Women's fixture starts at 3.00pm BST. Find out how to get to the races at http://henleyboatraces.com/getting-to-the-race or follow the action live on CamFM (97.2FM and www.camfm.co.uk) and on Twitter with @HenleyBoatRaces.
In addition, the full victorious 1984 Women’s Lightweight Crew, in their original line up, will be taking part in a commemorative row past at Henley, after the Boat Races, but before the prize giving. They were the first crew to receive sponsorship, initially from British Sugar’s Silver Spoon brand, and the first crew to display sponsorship logos on their equipment. Oxford are also fielding an Anniversary crew which will consist of members of lightweight crews from the 1980s.
The Men's Boat Race
The Men's Boat Race will take place at 5.55pm on Sunday 6 April 2014 on the tideway. A map of the course can be found at http://whichblueareyou.com/river-map and there are events around the world where you can watch the race through live and recorded broadcasts - for further details, see below!
Correction (30/01/14): An earlier version of this webpage (included in the January edition of the alumni e-bulletin) incorrectly referred to the Lightweights' races moving to the tideway. To clarify, the Women's Blue Boat race will move to the tideway while the Women’s reserves (Blondie) and the Men’s and Women’s Lightweight races will continue to take place at Henley a week earlier. We apologise for any confusion.
